Last week, three Florida Atlantic University football players extended their dreams by being drafted or signing as an undrafted free agent to play in the National Football League: Devin Singletary (3rd round), Kerrith Whyte, Jr. (7th round) and Azeez Al-Shaair (free agent). Since Saturday, seven more Owls have the opportunity to extend their dreams in the coming weeks at NFL minicamps.
Â
Reggie Bain – Washington Redskins (May 12-14) Shelton Lewis – Kansas City Chiefs (May 4-6) Herb Miller III – Kansas City Chiefs (May 4-6) Hunter Snyder – San Francisco 49ers (May 5-7) Andrew Soroh – Kansas City Chiefs (May 4-5)
Raekwon Williams – Baltimore Ravens (May 3-6) Jovon Durante - Seattle Seahawks (May 3-5)
Â
Five is the most any one FAU class has produced to the NFL and that came following the 2017 draft that saw Trey Hendrickson drafted in the third round by the New Orleans Saints followed by free agent contracts/minicamp invites for Dillon DeBoer (Los Angeles Chargers), Tyler Cameron (Baltimore Ravens), Shalom Ogbonda (New York Jets), and Tevin Homer (Washington Redskins). Should two Owls catch on, it would tie the record. If three sign as a free agent following their respective minicamp, 2019 would become the largest FAU to the NFL class, partially because two became the only players to leave the program early, seeking a spot in the NFL.
Â
Currently, 12 former FAU players are under NFL contracts: Keith Reaser (Kansas City Chiefs), Adarius Taylor, formerly Glanton, (Cleveland Browns), Damian Parms (Carolina Panthers), Trevon Coley (Cleveland Browns), Sharrod Neasman (Atlanta Falcons), Cre'von LeBlanc (Philadelphia Eagles), Trey Hendrickson (New Orleans Saints), Greg "Buddy" Howell (Houston Texans), Greg Joseph (Cleveland Browns), Singletary (Buffalo Bills), Whyte (Chicago Bears) and Al-Shaair (San Francisco 49ers). Alfred Morris is currently a free agent, after having played for San Francisco last year.
