Whyte and Wasser Qualify for NCAA First Round

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Two Florida Atlantic University track and field members have qualified for the NCAA's First Round. Natalliah Whyte and Anne-Catherine Wasser will compete at the East Regional in Jacksonville, Florida next Thursday, May 23 at the University of North Florida.
Whyte qualified for the 100 meter dash with her time of 11.17 during the first week of the outdoor season. That time is the sixth best among all NCAA East qualifiers. Wasser will compete in the 400 meter hurdles after logging a personal best time of 59.53 at the Conference USA Championship.
After building an impressive trophy case all season long, Whyte will look to add to it with an even bigger trophy. She won the 100 meter dash at the C-USA Championship last week by 0.38 and setting a new facility record for the Irwin Belk Track along the way with her time of 11.21. Earlier in the season, Whyte set the school record in both the 100 and 200 meter outdoor events, earning C-USA's Athlete of the Week award twice. Whyte claimed second place in the 100 meter at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Championships while running at Auburn.
Wasser spent much of 2019 recovering from an injury, but has come back strong late in the outdoor season. Her 59.53 time in the 400 meter hurdles at the C-USA Championship was the fifth fastest time in program history and earned her a spot in the finals as the second fastest time in the prelims. In the finals, Wasser finished fifth.
The 400 meter hurdles prelims are set to be ran at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The 100 meter dash prelims will ran that same day at 6:30 p.m.
