LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Florida Atlantic University softball players
Madisyn Palmer and
Mia Olson were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region team, as announced by the NFCA Thursday. Both student-athletes, who are repeat-selections, were named to the All-South Region Third Team with Palmer going in as an outfielder and Olson a pitcher/utility player.
Palmer made herself known in the collegiate softball community with a record-setting career throughout her four years as an Owl. The New Port Richey, Florida product finished the regular season third in the NCAA in stolen bases per game (.98) and broke the career stolen bases record in the fourth week of the season against Fairfield. She ends her career with 164 steals, which is second in Conference USA history. Her 48 stolen bases this season also matches the previous single-season record she set during her junior campaign. Palmer leaves FAU second in school history in career batting average (.354), second in runs scored (148), third in stolen base percentage (.877), third in on-base percentage (.459), tied for third in walks (11) and seventh in hits (209).
Olson had a tremendous senior season at the plate and in the circle. The Orlando, Florida native batted .314 with 48 hits, nine doubles, as well as a team-leading 41 RBI and 11 home runs, which was tied for seventh most in C-USA. Olson etched her name in the FAU record book with 22 career home runs and became seventh in career slugging percentage at .474. She made 22 starts as the pitcher and 28 as the designated player. In the circle, Olson fared well against top-75 opponents with a 2.96 ERA over six starts. She also led the team in saves with two on the season and was a C-USA Second Team selection as a designated player/utility.
