BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University softball team (11-10) came out victorious against Yale on Saturday night, 5-3. The Owls scored all of its five runs in the first inning, which showed to be enough to clinch the win on day two of the Parents' Weekend Tournament.

"We had a late night, but got the win," said Head Coach Joan Joyce. "After scoring five runs in the first inning, we just sat on it and we can't do that tomorrow."

Key Plays:
The Owls got off to a hot start in the bottom of the first inning with Mia Olson's single down the right field line to score Madisyn Palmer and Samantha Lageyre. Later in the inning, Fayth Davis launched a three-run home run to left center to also bring home Kelsey Morrison and Lauren Whitt. The score remained 5-0 until the top of the fifth inning when Yale's Olivia Vinyard came up with an RBI single to put the Bulldogs on the board. Yale searched for a comeback in the top of the seventh inning after RBIs from Annie Tarte and Carlin Hagmaier, but were unable to match the Owls. In a game that carried onto Sunday morning, the Owls improved to above .500 after the 5-3 victory.

Notables:

Kelsey Morrison (5-1) pitched her fourth complete game of the season, capturing six strikeouts and allowing three earned runs and walks apiece
After missing the whole 2018 season to injury, Davis hit her first home run since her freshman campaign
Whitt and Davis came up with two hits apiece. This is each of their fourth multiple-hit game of the season
The Owls had four stolen bases in the game, with Palmer capturing two and Samantha Lageyre and Ashleigh Jennings adding one each
Each Owl in the lineup either came up with a hit or scored a run
