BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University softball team (12-11) split its games on day three of the Parents' Weekend Tournament. FAU fell to Illinois State in the first game, 6-2 despite a late rally in the seventh, but came back in the latter game to shutout Purdue, 4-0. The Owls are now above .500 on the season.

Game 1
Key Plays:
Illinois State inched on the board first with the help of a few fielding errors. With the bases loaded in the top of the first inning, Ellie Weltha singled up the middle to send two Redbirds home in the top of the first inning. The Redbirds kept it alive in the next inning, scoring four more runs following another fielding error by the Owls and a single by Allison Spence to take a commanding 6-0 lead. The Owls were hitless until the bottom of the fourth inning following a single by
Mia Olson, but FAU was unable to capitalize with a run. In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Owls scored following an RBI double by
Kaitlyn Burke and an RBI single by
Carolyn Rosa, but FAU fell short of a comeback to drop the first game, 6-2.

- Kara Lokeinsky came into relief in the third inning to pitch four scoreless innings with no walks allowed and one strikeout
- Burke and Rosa both captured RBIs

Key Plays:
There was a scoreless game at FAU Softball Stadium until the bottom of the fourth inning when
Mia Olson hammered a ground rule double to left center to score
Madisyn Palmer. With
Danielle Bieberle pinch running for Olson, she stole third base to easily advance to home after an RBI single by
Lauren Whitt. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Olson captured her second double of the game, Whitt reached on a walk and Duffner loaded the bases with a single. Olson would later head home following a passed ball and
Angela Agurkis came up with a sacrifice fly to lengthen the Owls' lead, 4-0. In the top of the seventh inning, the Boilermakers had a runner on first, but a couple of groundouts ended the game to help the Owls improve to above .500.

Notables:
- Skylar Whitty (3-1) pitched her second complete game shutout of the season. She gave up three hits and one walk, while adding two strikeouts
- Palmer and Olson both captured multiple hits in the game. Olson now has five doubles on the season and is batting .358
- Myah Murray made her first official start as an Owl and came up with key defensive plays in the top of the fourth inning
- Palmer captured two stolen bases in the game, which marks her sixth time this season she has stolen multiple bases in a game. Bieberle also stole a base and now has six on the season
- After delivering two hits in Sunday night's games, Fayth Davis is batting .310 to be one of two Owl starters batting above .300 on the season
