FAU vs. Stetson/@ Strike Out Cancer Tournament
FAU downed each of its five opponents over the weekend to start a five-game winning streak. The Owls kicked the weekend off with a doubleheader against Stetson in Clermont, Florida on Friday. In the first game, the Owls came away with a shutout victory, 3-0. The Owls were able to end the second game against the Hatters early, as they won 10-2 in six innings. The Owls rounded out the weekend as the host of the 13th annual Strike Out Tournament. FAU got things started with an 8-3 win over Florida Gulf Coast and the team combined for 10 hits in the game. The Owls would then go on to win the second game of Saturday's tournament against UConn. Despite a comeback by the Huskies in the seventh inning, the Owls prevailed, 3-2. FAU finished the weekend undefeated following another 3-2 victory over UConn on Sunday. Going into the bottom of the sixth inning, the score was tied 2-2, but an error by the UConn center fielder led to a run scored by FAU and that was all the Owls needed to win.
