BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University softball team (8-7) extended its winning streak to five games after a 3-2 win over UConn on Sunday. With a tie ball game going into the bottom of the sixth inning, a costly error by the UConn center fielder put the Owls up one run and that is all they needed to finish undefeated at the 13th annual Strike Out Cancer Tournament.Â

UConn got on the board first following an RBI single by Alexis Lemus in the top of the second inning. The Owls responded in the bottom of the fourth inning when

Angela Agurkis came up with her first collegiate hit to bring home
Mia Olson and grant the Owls the lead, 2-1. UConn responded in the top of the sixth inning following an RBI single by Cutler to make the score 2-2. In the bottom of the sixth inning, the UConn center fielder lost the battle with the sunshine on a fly ball, which led to a run scored by
Danielle Bieberle. The one run lead proved to be all the Owls needed to tally the win against the Huskies, 3-2.

Notables:
- Freshman Skylar Whitty (2-0) picked up her second win of the season, pitching a complete game with seven strikeouts, no walks and just one earned run
- Whitt captured her third multi-hit game of the season. Lageyre also added two hits in the contest and had seven hits on the weekend, while batting .438
- Agurkis tallied her first collegiate hit with an RBI single to give the Owls the lead at the time
- Olson batted .500 on the weekend and scored in a run on Sunday
- The Owls outhit their opponents this weekend with 41 hits versus 26. FAU's overall batting average on the weekend was .325 as opposed to their opponents' .205
