Kenan Blackshear has been named Conference USA Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday. He is the first Owl to earn the award since
Jailyn Ingram won it in November of 2016.

The Orlando product has continued to flourish in his role as a starter, posting another pair of solid outings last week. On Monday night, he posted career highs in both points and rebounds, tallying 10 points and six rebounds against St. Bonaventure. He followed that up on Wednesday night with nine points and a new career-high of seven rebounds in the Owls' 62-59 victory over Canisius.

For the week, he averaged 9.5 points and 6.5 rebounds, making a pair of 3-pointers and five of his six free throw attempts.
