HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Florida Atlantic University women's soccer picked up three key points on Sunday, taking a road Conference USA affair over Southern Miss, 3-1.

The Turning Point:
The Owls (9-3-0, 3-1-0 C-USA) got on the board first, with Mary O'Hara rocketing one in from way out in the 22nd minute. However, the Golden Eagles (6-6-0, 1-3-0 C-USA) took the ensuing kickoff immediately to the goal and tied it up just 14 seconds later.

The Finish:
FAU took the lead on a USM own goal in the 65th minute and added on just over 10 minutes later when Tiril Haga deposited in her first score of the season. Goalkeeper Brianna Waggoner, making her first start of the year, needed just one save following that third goal, among two saves in the match, to pick up the victory.

As they have in the last few matches, the Owls continued to pour it on offensively, outshooting the opposition Sunday, 18-7, and putting exactly have their attempts on goal (nine compared to USM's three)
They also held an 8-1 corner kick advantage on the day

"I was really proud of our girls today," said head coach Patrick Baker. "We talked about being 'good losers,' and applying a lot of the things that we learned from a very disappointing performance and loss at Louisiana Tech on Friday. They took in the video, took in the scouting report … and we were just a lot more like ourselves today, which was nice to see."

What's Next

The Owls are back home next Friday to host UTSA, an approximate kickoff of 7:30, as it will be the second game in a doubleheader at FAU Soccer Stadium (following the FAU men hosting Keiser beginning at 5:30).
