BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University softball coach
Joan Joyce has announced the addition of former Owls' catcher Mickey Bell as a volunteer assistant.
Â
Bell comes to Boca Raton following two years at Eastern Illinois, where she was a graduate assistant softball coach. As a GA, Bell assisted in daily bullpen development of pitchers and catchers. She also assisted with recruiting events in addition to several other aspects of the program.
Â
A three-year member of the FAU softball team after transferring from Lipscomb, Bell saw significant action behind the plate for the Owls, where she helped FAU to back-to-back NCAA Regional appearances, including a sweep of the 2016 Conference USA regular season and tournament titles. That same season, the Owls' pitching staff finished the season third in the nation in ERA.
Â
Originally from Clarks Hill, S.C., Bell graduated from FAU with a bachelor's degree in exercise science and health promotion in 2016 and also earned a master's degree in sports administration from Eastern Illinois in 2018.
