LAST TIME OUT
The Owls (2-4-0, 1-1-0 C-USA) were set to face FGCU on Tuesday night in Fort Myers, but lightning in the area kept the two teams off the pitch.
CATCHING UP WITH THE OWLS
FAU is in a two-way tie for fourth place in the C-USA standings with a 1-1-0 record so far in league play. Old Dominion leads the pack with a 3-0-0 record for nine league points. (Wins = 3 points, ties = 1 point).
Redshirt-junior goalkeeper
Hagay Jalon has played every match in-goal for the Owls this season. His 5.33 saves per game average is the eighth most nationally and his 32 total saves on the season is 40th in the country. Both of those marks lead C-USA. The Haifa, Israel native has registered two clean sheets this season which is tied for the fifth most in the league. He has the sixth best save percentage in the conference (0.711) and he recorded the second most saves in a single-game by a C-USA keeper this season with eight stops against South Carolina.
The Owls have had three goal-scorers this season in
Gonzalo Pena Barrasus,
Alex Alexis and
Jean Paul Rafols. Pena and Alexis each scored golden goals for the Owls putting them in a tie for the fifth most game-winning goals in the league this season. Alonso Coello Camarrero has picked up two assists through five games, giving him the seventh most in C-USA and his 0.33 assists per game average is the seventh highest.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Stetson (3-4-1) is coming off of a 3-1 loss at USF on Tuesday. Previously this season the Hatters topped C-USA member FIU, 3-2, in Miami.
Erwan Colas leads Stetson with three goals this season. Elvis Menayese and William Suaut each have two.
UP NEXT FOR THE OWLS
FAU will hit the road for two away games next week. The Owls will travel to Georgia Southern on October 2 and then will go to Conference USA foe Old Dominion on Saturday. Both of those matches are set for 7 p.m. start times.
