BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team has had another member of the squad recognized by the league, as goalkeeper Jennifer Ocampo was rewarded as Conference USA Goalkeeper of the Week Monday after two shutouts last weekend.
The two clean sheets were the first two Ocampo has recorded on the year, and she turned in six saves on the two victories over the weekend, playing the entirety of both matches in goal. The Owls are in the midst of an overall three-game winning streak, and are 2-0 in C-USA play for the first time since joining the league.
"It's an honor to receive this recognition, but our success this weekend was a team effort," said Ocampo. "Our defense played well this weekend and limited our opponents' chances, which made my role easier. I think everyone is excited to be 2-0-0 (in C-USA play) and we look forward to building upon that record this upcoming week."
"We are excited to hear that Jenny is being honored by C-USA today for her performances against Oral Roberts and UAB," added Head Coach Patrick Baker. "Two shutouts for her and her teammates, and more importantly, moving to 2-0-0 in C-USA play. She continues to have an impressive senior year and with half of the season left, we're excited to see what the back half has in store."
Two more C-USA matches are on the docket this weekend for the Owls, against Louisiana Tech Friday and Southern Miss Sunday. For tickets, go to www.fausports.com or call 1-866-FAU-OWLS.
