Chancerel, Legall, Garcia Earn All-Conference USA Honors

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Senior Remi Chancerel and freshmen Jason Legall and Ignacio Garcia garnered All-Conference USA Honors for their performances in one of the best seasons in the history of the Florida Atlantic University men's tennis program.
"I am extremely proud of Remi for being selected to the first team conference honors," FAU Head Coach Ricardo Gonzalez said. "This is a well-deserved recognition while he has been one of the most consistent players at FAU. I am also extremely proud of our freshmen; Jason and Nachi, for being selected to the second team conference honors. The future is bright for our tennis program."
"I am so proud of our team's success this year and if it was my choice, I would give everyone an all conference honors award," Gonzalez, who lead FAU to its second-most victories in a season in program history, said.
First Team All-Conference USA selection Remi Chancerel went 11-7 in singles, primarily at the No. 1 position and was undefeated against C-USA opponents in regular-season singles play. The senior ranked as high as No. 49 in doubles with partner Gabriel Sidney, going 12-9 at No. 1 doubles with wins over No. 8 duo from Georgia and No. 43 duo from Old Dominion. They recorded seven-match doubles win streak starting with the win at No. 4 Georgia.
Legall was named Second Team All-Conference USA in singles after going undefeated over his final 10 singles matches of the season with a five-match win streak in doubles with fellow freshman partner Ignacio Garcia. He was 8-3 on the year at No. 2 singles and 12 of his 13 singles victories were straight-set wins. In the C-USA tournament, Legall went undefeated in both singles and doubles, and won the clinching point against No. 39 Middle Tennessee to send FAU to its first C-USA Tournament Championship match. He lead Conference USA in No. 4 singles win percentage and No. 3 doubles win percentage
Legall and Garcia were named Second Team All-Conference in doubles after posting a 10-4 mark on the year. The duo went undefeated against C-USA opponents. Garcia was 14-8 in singles on the year with three straight match-clinching wins.
