EUGENE, Ore. - The Oregon Ducks scored the last five runs of Monday's matchup to turn a one-run game into a series-ending 10-4 victory over the Florida Atlantic University baseball team.

Quotable

"We had some opportunities," said Head Coach John McCormack. "We came out of the gate ready to go, and it's another time where we have to make adjustments earlier. We get the double and triple, get two guys in to go up 2-0, and we just let it get away from us. I thought we came out with good energy but made a few mental mistakes. Credit to Oregon, they didn't get rattled and did a lot of things right. It was a tough weekend, but I think it's going to serve us well going forward."

The Turning Point

The Owls (8-4) led off the game with a double by Tyler Frank and Joe Montes scoring him with a triple to the wall in right-center. Montes would score on a groundout by Pedro Pages for the early lead. Though Oregon brought 11 to the plate in a five-run fourth, RBI's by Cody Wilson in the sixth and Kevin Abraham in the seventh made it a one-run game. However, UO stranded the tying run at third in the latter inning, setting up their offense in the bottom half.

The Finish

The Ducks (8-3) scored three times in the seventh against four Owls' pitchers, and two more in the eighth to seal it.

The Bats

Montes had his second straight two-hit game
The other Owls' hits, besides Frank's game-opening double, were by Wilson and Richie Nizza
David Miranda and Eric Rivera scored the other two FAU runs

The Arms

Starter Nick Prather cruised through the first four innings, allowing just one Oregon hit, before the game-turning fifth
Mike Ruff threw a scoreless sixth, which ended on a caught stealing by Kevin Abraham in which he threw out the UO baserunner from his knees. That was the second Duck he thew out stealing in the game
Matt Harris struck out three batters in the final inning

What's Next

The Owls return home for five straight games, the first three this weekend against Seton Hall. The opener versus the Pirates is set for this Friday night, March 9, at 6:30 p.m.
