LAST TIME OUT
- The Owls hosted Hampton to open the 2018-19 season on Wednesday. Despite outscoring the Lady Pirates in the first and fourth quarters, FAU fell, 72-68
- Myka Johnson Matthews and Juliette Gauthier were the leading scorers for FAU with 13 points, each in their debuts as Owls. Gauthier also added seven rebounds and seven assists, while Matthews had three boards and two assists
- Ra'Kyra Gabriel had 12 points in the game before fouling out in the fourth quarter. She pulled down six rebounds and tied her career high with three blocks
- The team connected on 10 3-pointers, the most since making 10 last season at UTEP on Jan. 18 of last season
- The Owls recorded 21 assists in the game, the most by a FAU team since 2016 when FAU had 22 against Florida Memorial
- Five freshmen made their debuts against Hampton
- There were 1,182 fans in attendance for the season opener
SERIES HISTORY
- Saturday's matchup will be the 28th meeting between FAU and Georgia State
- The Panthers own a 17-10 record against the Owls, but FAU won the last matchup
- Last season FAU routed the Panthers in Atlanta, 82-50, marking the largest win for the Owls since 2014
- FAU is 5-6 at home against Georgia State with a chance to even up the record on SaturdayÂ
SCOUTING GEORGIA STATE
- The Panthers got off to a good start in Gene Hill's first game as head coach with a 70-63 win against UNCG on Wednesday night
- Georgia State brings back 10 players from last season, including four starters
- Walnatia Wright led the Panthers against UNCG with a double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 11 rebounds
- Jada Lewis and K.K. Williams each scored in double figures as well, while Allison Johnson had nine rebounds
