BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team recently volunteered to help others in need in the local community. The Owls participated in an event at Boca Helping Hands on Thanksgiving morning. Boca Helping Hands is a non-profit organization that offers meals to the underprivileged in South Florida. The team prepared and served meals for members of the community.
"Anybody can give money, anybody can give food, but giving of your time, effort and energy is the most important thing," said Bill Harper, Director of Food and Warehouse Operations for Boca Helping Hands. "The FAU community, especially the athletic department, has been so impactful to countless lives, and we're truly appreciative of it."
FAU Head Coach Dusty May
"(We're here) to show gratitude for how blessed we all are, to be where we are, to be able to help the community we're a part of."
Freshman Michael Forrest
"We're here to help people that don't have all the luxuries that we take for granted."
