ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team and Oakland played 110 minutes on Thursday night and came away with a scoreless draw.
Turning Point / The Finish:
The teams combined for 18 shots, nine on each side, with seven on goal - four by FAU (3-3-1) and three by Oakland (0-6-1). But neither was able to put in the game-winner through regulation and two full overtime periods.
Notables:
- Jennifer Ocampo had three saves on the night, including one that could have been a game-winner for the Golden Grizzlies in the first overtime
- She, three of the four starting defenders directly in front of her - Ebba Blomqvist, Madison Caldwell and Alex Maxson - and midfielder Jessica Monteiro all saw the field for the entirety of the match
- These two squads played to the exact same result last season in Boca Raton, 0-0 in two overtimes
What's Next:
Sunday's home match with College of Charleston has already been canceled, so the next two scheduled tilts for the Owls are also on the road: Friday, Sept. 15 at Rice in Houston, and two days following that, in Cedar City, Utah, against Southern Utah.
