BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University athletic department has released the men's basketball team's 2017-18 schedule.
"We are excited about the upcoming season and the schedule that we've put together," said FAU Head Coach Michael Curry. "Our non-conference schedule allows our fans across the state to come check out their Owls."
FAU will travel to crosstown Lynn for an exhibition on Saturday, Nov. 4. The Owls will officially open their fourth season under Curry when they go to in-state rival USF on Friday, Nov. 10. Edward Waters will come to FAU Arena on Thursday, Nov. 16 in the Owls' home opener before traveling to Estero, Florida for the Gulf Coast Showcase from Monday, Nov. 20 through Wednesday, Nov. 22
FAU will host Bethune-Cookman on Saturday, Dec. 2 before heading to Florida Gulf Coast to face the Eagles on Tuesday, Dec. 5. The Owls will take time off for exams before welcoming Webber International to The Burrow on Sunday, Dec. 10. Arkansas State will come to Boca Raton on Saturday, Dec. 16 in the Owls' final nonconference home game.
The Owls will wrap up their nonconference slate with road games at Texas Tech and Minnesota on Tuesday, Dec. 19 and Saturday, Dec. 23, respectively.
"We host a talented Arkansas State team that won 20 games last year, before going on the road to play at Texas Tech and at Minnesota," said Curry. "Those three games will really prepare us for the challenge of conference play."
Conference USA play begins on Saturday, Dec. 30, when the Owls head south to face FIU. FAU will open its C-USA home schedule with UAB on Thursday, Jan. 4, followed by Middle Tennessee on the sixth.
A rematch against FIU on Saturday, Feb. 17, then games against Rice and North Texas will round out the home schedule.
"The conference schedule this year is different than the past few years in terms of which teams we play twice," said Curry of the C-USA slate. "We've got a great home conference schedule and I hope to get a true home court advantage this year with a packed Burrow."
The 2018 C-USA Basketball Tournament will take place in Frisco, Texas, from Wednesday, March 7 through Saturday, March 10.
On the upcoming season, Coach Curry said, "Our guys have been working hard all summer and we are looking forward to kicking off the season this fall."
