BOCA RATON, Fla. -
The Florida Atlantic University dance team dazzled the judges and danced their way around the competition to finish in fifth place at the 2017 National Dance Alliance (NDA) Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championship, April 5-8 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
"In our second-consecutive year competing at NDAs, the FAU Dance team competed in the Team Performance Division IA where we showcased our jazz, hip-hop, and pom styles all within one routine," said Claudia Soto, head dance and cheer coach. "The squad earned a Top-five National finish, the highest we have achieved since returning to the NDA Collegiate Competition in 2016."
The team, who moved up three spots from last year's championship finish, outscoring Virginia Tech, Michigan State and fellow Conference USA member WKU.
The FAU Dance team will host the 2017-18 Prep Clinics and Auditions Monday and Tuesday, April 17-18 from 6-8 p.m. each night in the FAU Arena, located at 777 Glades Road Boca Raton, FL 33431.
Attending the clinics will provide each dancer with the opportunity to prepare for auditions while learning fun and exciting routines. A question and answer session is held at the end of each clinic with the current members and the coaching staff. Clinics are open to high school juniors and seniors and current FAU students.
