CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team had a 2-0 second half lead over Charlotte, but the 49ers scored twice quickly to tie it, and got the game-winner with 5:25 left in Sunday's match at Transamerica Field.

Turning Point:

Elisha Holmes had staked the Owls (7-6-2, 2-3-1 Conference USA) to their advantage, scoring in the 10th (off a one-touch from Pernille Velta) and 52nd (a cross from Madison Caldwell, who had received it herself from Asta Arnadottir). But just 4:23 after the latter goal, and 4:38 after that, Charlotte (9-4-0, 4-1-0 C-USA) equalized, with scores by Jamie Fankhauser and Julia Grainda.

The Finish:

What turned out to be the game-winner was fed in by Grainda, who had had the assist on the first as well, giving her a hand in all three scores. She found Martha Thomas ahead, and C-USA's leading scorer notched her 10th of the year in the 84th for the 49ers' only lead of the afternoon.

"The first goal was excellent by Elisha, the second was very good by Elisha," said Head Coach Patrick Baker. "You go up 2-0 on any team, no matter what the elements, you just figure you're going to lock things up and get a result."

What's Next:

The three-match road trip continues, and ends, next weekend. The Owls will travel to Bowling Green, Kentucky, first for a match with WKU on Friday, and then end up at Marshall on Sunday afternoon in Huntington, West Virginia.
