BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's cross country squads look for magical results this weekend, taking part in Saturday's Disney Cross Country Classic at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Kissimmee, Florida.
Each team will make full use of their rosters in heading to the meet on Saturday. The men, in an 8K, will go first, as the day-opening race denoted under "The Villains." The men's Scar Division runs at 7:40 a.m. The women's 5K, entitled the Ursula Division, goes off at 8:25 a.m. Select heats from the day will be streamed live on WatchESPN.com.
"After not racing at ESPN's Wide World of Sports for a couple of years, it's exciting to go back there and have our entire team compete," said Head Coach Alex Smolka. "The event attracts tons of out-of-state teams, and since it will be broadcasted live on ESPN3, it gives us a great opportunity to race against teams from around the country on a big stage, which will hopefully help us to prepare for the C-USA Championships a few weeks down the road."
The WWOS Complex is located at 700 S. Victory Way in Kissimmee. Besides the Owl men, 22 other full squads will compete in the Scar Division race. The Ursula Division will be made up of 28 women's contingencies, including FAU.
