BOWLING GREEN, Kent. - (September 23, 2016) â€" The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team was defeated by no. 25 WKU (25-17, 25-13, 23-25, 25-20) in its Conference USA opener on Friday. The Owls are now 5-10 on the season.

Notables

Sigourney Kame was the only Owl with double-digit kills. She had 10 in the match.
Abbi Reid and Maja Ristic had nine kills each, Gabrielle Dixon added seven.
Ivone Martinez had 18 assists and 12 digs for her team-high 10th double-double of the season.
Nathalie Rosado led FAU with 13 digs.

Key Plays

The Hilltoppers built an early lead in the first set and used that to take a 25-17 victory. Set number two was tied at seven, but WKU used an 18-6 run to take a 2-0 advantage. FAU got out to a quick start in the third set, taking a 5-1 lead. The Hilltoppers fought back to tie the frame. The 10^th tie of the set came at 22, but FAU was able to close strong and take the set. The Owls led 5-2 early in the fourth set, but WKU recovered to build a 15-9 edge. FAU was able to trim the margin to a single point, but wouldn't get any closer and the Hilltoppers were able to take the match.
