BOCA RATON, Fla. -
The fan-friendly environment at Florida Atlantic University home football games will be better than ever for the 2016 season. Thanks to a season-long survey last year of ticket purchasers and students, the FAU game day staff went to work implementing new ideas and initiatives.
"It was educational to receive feedback directly from our ticket purchasers," said Melissa Dawson, executive associate athletics director. "Our goal is to provide the best fan experience in college football. The only way to continually improve upon this is to know your opportunities to improve. We are thankful to the individuals that took the time to provide us feedback and hope these open lines of communication will help us continue to improve upon the game day experience at FAU football games,"
Items identified with the highest level of satisfaction were the cleanliness and convenience of restrooms, pre-game fan fest, entry procedures, post-game traffic flow and several other services and commodities. Areas that showed room for improvement were pre-game traffic flow, concessions variety on the Delray Hyundai Deck and main concourse, multiple silver reserved parking lots and customer service among some game day vendors.
A few adjustments that have been made to this year's home games as a result of the feedback are as follows. A thorough review of our reserved parking lots as well as pre-game traffic plan was completed. The review resulted in the development of an additional colored reserved lot. Individuals that previously held silver lot passes were contacted and allowed to select between continued silver parking or parking in our new yellow lot. In addition, the orange reserved lot was condensed to allow parking in closer proximity to the stadium for our game day cash parking patrons. Traffic and parking signage has been increased and relocated to areas that will allow more advanced directional notice to drivers to assist with better pre-game traffic flow.
In conjunction with our food service provider, the variety of food has been increased on the Delray Hyundai Deck to include: Chick-fil-a and Rita's Italian Ice. On the main concourse, local fare such as BC Tacos, Caribbean Cowboy, Outside the Box Company and Tomasso's were added to increase variety and add requested vegetarian options.
These are just a few of the changes that were implemented to directly address the feedback we received from our ticket purchasers and students. Detailed surveys were sent to ticket purchasers and students in an effort to measure fan satisfaction at FAU Stadium. These surveys were instituted following the first, fourth and final home games of the season. With an average time of 12 minutes to complete the in-season surveys and 22 minutes for the end of year review, fans clearly took valuable time to share their thoughts and concerns.
