BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Florida Atlantic University pitcher Kylee Hanson and utility player Tatum Buckley were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) South Region Team, on Thursday.
Hanson made the first team, while Buckley was a third team member.
Hanson, the 2016 Conference USA Pitcher of the Year and All-Conference USA First Team member, earned Conference USA Pitcher of the Week seven times in 2016. On the season, the Jupiter, Fla. resident is 28-3 with 286 strikeouts. She is third nationally with a 0.73 ERA. Last week, Hanson was named Conference USA Tournament MVP while helping the Owls capture the program's first C-USA Tournament Championship.
Buckley, a sophomore from Monroe, Conn., made the team as a utility player/pitcher. She hit .261 with 34 RBI in 2016, including a .304 average in C-USA play. As a pitcher, Buckley was 6-0 with a 1.58 ERA.
The all-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region, and all the honorees will be eligible selections for the NFCA All-American teams, which will be announced on June 1. The entire all-region team can be found on NFCA.org.
