BOCA RATON, Fla. - The no. 23 Florida Atlantic University softball team outlasted a tenacious Louisiana Tech squad 2-1 in eight innings on Sunday. The Owls are now 30-7 overall and 7-2 in Conference USA play this season.

• Kylee Hanson threw a complete game one-hitter to pick up her 15th win of the season.
• Christina Martinez singled and scored a run.
• Emily Lochten had two hits and scored the game winning run.
• Carnesha Thompson, Melissa Martinez and Sarah Bencivenga also recorded hits for the Owls.

Key Plays
With the bases loaded in the bottom of the third, Melissa Martinez drove in her twin sister Christina with a sacrifice fly to right that put FAU up 1-0. Louisiana Tech (19-11, 1-5 C-USA) tied the game with a solo homer in the top of the fourth. The score remained tied until the bottom of the eighth, when FAU loaded the bases again. This time, the Lady Techster shortstop mishandled a Bencivenga grounder, allowing Lochten to score the game-winning run.
