Round Three Results
After three rounds of play, the Florida Atlantic University men's golf team finished in 13th place at the Conference USA Men's Golf Championship with a team total of 929 (+65).
The member schools played 54 holes of stroke play on the par 72, 6,969-yard course, and the top four teams will advance to a four-team seeded match play playoff on Wednesday, April 27. UAB held on to the lead to finish with a three-round total of 865 (+1) followed by La Tech, North Texas, and UTSA.
Playing his best round of the tournament on the third day, shooting a 71, Derron Peyton was the Owls' top finisher tying for 41st with a three-round total of 229. Peyton shot three birdies, coming on the par-four ninth, par-four 10th and par-four 18th holes.
With three birdies on the final 18 holes, Michael Perez shot a third round of 75 (+3) to end the tournament tied for 48th with a total of 232.
With rounds of 78, 78 and 79, Jackson Shoenfelt was the next finisher tying for 54th. Senior Pablo Gerboles-Parrilla concluded play in 63rd place with a total stroke count of 241.
Tied with Gerboles-Parrilla was junior Caleb Sibley, who finished the third round shooting nine-over 81 after carding a 76, and 84 in the two previous rounds. Sibley had a three round total of 241 with one birdie on the day coming on the par-five 12th hole.
The team's 2016-17 schedule will be announced in fall 2016.
