BECKLEY, W. Va. â€" The No. 16 Florida Atlantic University baseball team saw its seven-game road Conference USA win streak snapped with a 7-2 loss at Marshall on Sunday.
The Owls (25-8, 11-4 C-USA) saw eight players reach base, scattering eight hits on the day with Austin Langham picking up two. CJ Chatham hit his fourth home run of the season to drive in FAU's two runs.
Sean Labsan was tagged with the loss, allowing four earned runs on seven hits with four strikeouts in four innings of work.
Stephen Kerr led off the game with a double to right and stole third, but was left stranded after three quick outs.
Marshall jumped on top in the second with three consecutive singles to take a 1-0 lead before Labsan picked up a strikeout and a flyout to end the threat with the bases loaded.
Randy Oliva drew a walk in his first appearance in his second career start and worked his way to third, but again the Owls left a runner stranded.
A three-run homer in the third and a pair of singles in the fourth aided the Herd to bring two more runs across, extending the lead to 6-0.
Marshall tacked on another insurance run in the sixth on a single, stolen base and an RBI single.
Kerr drew a four-pitch walk in the top of the eighth before Chatham hit a homer to left to earn his 30th RBI of the year, cutting the advantage to 7-2. Christian Dicks and Esteban Puerta each singled to follow before Marshall used three pitchers in the frame to end the inning.
Brett Lashley singled in the ninth and swiped a base, but the Owls weren't able to produce more runs.
