BOCA RATON, Fla. â€" Freshman Nick Swan earned his first career win and junior CJ Chatham was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate as the No. 17 Florida Atlantic University baseball team defeated FGCU 5-2 on Tuesday night.

The Owls (26-8) saw eight players reach base on nine hits and five walks, led by Chatham's three hits and three runs scored. Esteban Puerta tallied two RBI while Chatham, Sean Labsan and Tyler Frank also drove in runs.

Swan dealt four innings, allowing just three hits and a run with two strikeouts in his second start. Devon Carr dealt a shutout eighth inning before Cameron Ragsdale earned his Conference USA-leading tenth save of the season.

FGCU's Matt Reardon led off the game with a triple to right center and came in to score on a sacrifice fly to put the Eagles up early.

Billy Endris singled and stole second before Chatham and Dicks walked to load the bases. Puerta then drew FAU's 11th bases-loaded, RBI walk of the year to tie the contest. Labsan plated Chatham on a sacrifice fly to put the Owls on top 2-1.

Chatham singled and Dicks drew his 31st walk in the third before Puerta singled to right to allow Chatham to score for the second time.

FGCU led off the seventh with three consecutive singles to load the bases with no outs in the seventh, but the Owls escaped the threat with a double play and groundout, allowing just one run to score.

Stephen Kerr hit a line drive up the middle and scored on Chatham's third hit in the bottom of the seventh. With runners at the corners and two outs, Frank laced a pinch-hit single to right to drive in Chatham for the third time, increasing the lead to the final 5-2.

Ragsdale retired the side in the ninth on just eight pitches to move into a tie for fourth in the nation in saves.

The Owls travel to Coral Gables, Fla. on Wednesday, April 20 to take on the No. 1 Miami Hurricanes at 6 p.m. Free audio is available on FAUSports.com.
