MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Florida Atlantic University softball team opened Conference USA play by sweeping a doubleheader from Middle Tennessee on Saturday. FAU won game 1 9-0 in six innings and game two 3-1. The pair of wins improved the Owls' record to 25-5 on the season and 2-0 in C-USA play. Middle Tennessee dropped to 14-14, 2-3.

Game 1 Notables
• Kylee Hanson threw a complete game, two hit shutout for her 10th win of the year.
• Melissa Martinez went 2-for-3 with a homerun and five RBI.
• Christina Martinez had two hits and scored two runs.
• Emily Lochten singled, walked, was hit by a pitch and scored three times.

Key Plays
The Owls loaded the bases in the first inning and scored on two walks and a grounder to take a 3-0 lead. Melissa Martinez's three-run homerun in the fifth put FAU up 6-0. Carnesha Thompson and Lochten also scored on the blast. The final runs of the game came in the sixth inning when a Melissa Martinez RBI grounder and a Tatum Buckley two-run double made the score 9-0. Hanson retired Middle Tennessee in order in the bottom of the inning to end the game.

Game 2 Notables
• Amanda Wilson gave up an earned run on five hits in seven innings to improve her record to 8-2. • Delaney Rickey went 2-for-4 and a run scored.
• Carnesha Thompson singled and scored.
• Emily Lochten hit her team best eighth homerun of the year.

Key Plays
FAU played small ball in the first inning, using two infield singles and two sacrifice bunts to push across a run. Lochten's shot in the top of the fifth also drove in Thompson to account for all of FAU's runs. Wilson allowed a run and had runners on first and second base with just one out in the bottom of the sixth, but a double play ended the threat.
