Joan Joyce Given President's Talon Award

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University Head Softball Coach Joan Joyce was recently named the President's Talon Award winning at the annual Talon Leadership Awards ceremony as part of Homecoming 2016. Since its creation in 1997, the Talon Awards have recognized outstanding leaders from the community, as well as FAU alumni, faculty and student body constituencies.

Joan Joyce was personally selected by FAU President John Kelly for service to the University, serving as head coach of the women's golf team for 18 years, while also building the softball program from the ground up. She has been the team's only head coach since its inception in 1995. In that time, the team has won 10 conference championships and appeared in 11 NCAA Tournaments, including back-to-back appearances in 2015 and 2016. Joyce, a member of 12 Halls of Fame, has also been named Conference Coach of the Year seven times.
