Three FAU Softball Players Earn All-Conference Recognition

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Three Florida Atlantic University softball players earned all-conference honors, announced by the Conference USA office today in advance of the Conference USA Softball Championship, which begins Thursday, May 7 at FIU in Miami.
Kylee Hanson was named to the first team as a pitcher. The sophomore from Jupiter recorded a 16-3 record with five shutouts and a 1.58 ERA. She led the team in innings pitched (133.1) and strikeouts (184). In conference play, Hanson went 10-1 with a 1.11 ERA. She was named C-USA Pitcher of the Week twice and threw her first career no-hitter earlier this season versus Charlotte. Hanson also recorded a career-high 18 strikeouts in the game.
Junior Melissa Martinez earned second-team recognition in the infield. Martinez finished the regular season with a .322 batting average and led the team in triples (three), slugging percentage (.593) and RBI (46). She also tied for the team lead with six homeruns on the year. Joining Martinez on the second team was freshman Emily Lochten. Lochten started all 52 games for the Owls at shortstop, hitting a team best .363 with 44 runs scored, 14 doubles and 33 RBI. Her .534 slugging percentage, .480 on-base percentage and 30 stolen bases also bested the Owls. Lochten was also named to the all-freshman team.
The Owls are the No. 2 seed for the Conference USA Championship and will play No. 7 seed North Texas on Thursday, May 7 at 4 p.m. Fans can keep track of all of the tournament action, including live video and live stats here.
