Owls Trump Roadrunners 10-4 in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Six late runs propelled the Florida Atlantic University baseball team to a 10-4 victory at UTSA on Friday in Conference USA action.
Brendon Sanger went 4-for-6 with two runs and an RBI and Esteban Puerta hit a solo home run as FAU won its 21st game of the season.
The No. 20 Owls (21-5, 5-2 C-USA) tallied 15 hits and drew eight walks as every player reached base safely in the contest.
Redshirt freshman David McKay picked up his first career victory, dealing 1.2 shutout innings in relief with a strikeout.
UTSA (14-12, 4-3 C-USA) took an early lead before Puerta hit a solo shot to left, mimicking his home run in San Antonio in 2014, to tie the contest in the fourth.
The Owls took their first lead of the game in the fifth on singles by Stephen Kerr and Brett Lashley and a double by Ricky Santiago to go up 3-2.
The Roadrunners responded in the bottom of the frame to net the contest at three apiece, where it remained until the seventh.
Sanger and Santiago singled to open the seventh before an RBI double by Collins to put the Owls on top once more. With the bases loaded, a UTSA error allowed Puerta and Collins to score to increase the lead to 6-3.
Sanger singled and Lashley, Santiago and Collins walked to plate another run and load the bases again in the eighth. Christian Dicks drew a bases-loaded walk and CJ Chatham hit a sacrifice fly to double the lead to 9-3.
Collins hit a two-out, RBI single in the top of the ninth to plate Kerr after UTSA scored one in the bottom of the eighth to end the scoring at 10-4.
The Owls go for the series win on Saturday with a 2 p.m. CT contest at Roadrunner field.
