Owls Drop Game Two 14-3 at UTSA

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Florida Atlantic University baseball team defense stumbled on Saturday as the Owls (21-6, 5-3 C-USA) dropped a Conference USA game 14-3 at UTSA.
The Roadrunners (15-12, 5-3 C-USA) tallied nine extra-base hits, including two home runs in the victory.
After UTSA went up 3-0 in the first two innings, CJ Chatham led off the third with FAU's first hit of the game. Singles by Kevin Abraham and Stephen Kerr allowed Chatham to score on a passed ball to cut the advantage to 3-1.
The Owls would tie the game in the sixth as Ricky Santiago singled and scored on an RBI triple by Roman Collins. Christian Dicks then singled through the right side to plate Collins, knotting the game at three apiece, similar to Friday's contest.
This time, however, it was UTSA who had the offense to close out the game as the Roadrunners posted seven runs on seven hits and an FAU error in the bottom of the sixth to go up 10-3. Matt Hilston hit a two-run homer to spark the inning as UTSA hit for the cycle in the frame. The home run was the first that Drew Jackson allowed over his last 211 batters faced and 52 consecutive innings, dating back to April 2014.
UTSA would tack on four more in the eighth as starter Aaron Burns dealt his second complete game of the year with eight hits, two earned runs and three walks allowed.
Jackson was tagged with his first loss of the season, allowing six earned runs on nine hits with a strikeout in five innings of work.
Collins led FAU at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
