The Florida Atlantic University women's track and field team will make the short trip up to Orlando to compete in the UCF Invitational on March 27-28.
Event information: Participating teams include FIU, Florida, FAMU, FGCU, FIT, Nova Southeastern, USF and UCF. The javelin and hammer throw will be the only events held on Friday, March 27. All other events will take place on Saturday, March 28 beginning with the discus at 10 a.m.

Previous meet: On the first day of the Miami Hurricane Invitational, freshman Frida Thorsås set a new school record in the javelin and the team had seven runners break onto FAU's All-Time Top 10 List.
Thorsås claimed first in the javelin and set a new school record throwing for a distance of 41.21m, which eclipses the previous school record of 39.74m set by Ronja Siekmann in 2013. She also took fourth in the shot put with a distance of 13.05 meters, putting her second in this event on FAU's All-Time Top 10 List.
Freshman Amélie Svensson took second in the 5k with a personal best time of 17:38.37, which is now fourth in school history. Sophie Walker followed in fourth (17:53.64) and is now seventh all-time at FAU.
With another top performance on day two, Svensson claimed first in the 1500 meter with a personal best time of 4:44.70. This marks the eighth best time in school history. Senior Tara Cripe also had a good race earning third with a career best time of 4:51.07.
Sitia Martinez did well in her first outdoor race of the season taking second in the 400 meter dash with a career best time of 55.15, which is now the fourth best time at FAU. In her outdoor debut as an Owl, Marianne Løeken tied for fourth place in the 400 meter hurdles with a lifetime best time of 1:05.25.
History: This will be FAU's first appearance at the UCF Invitational since the 2011-12 outdoor season.
Next meet: Part of the team will be in Daytona Beach on April 3 to face Embry-Riddle while the remaining members will take part in the University of Florida Relays on April 3-4 in Gainesville, Fla.
