BOCA RATON, Fla. - Melissa Martinez's seven RBI day helped the Florida Atlantic University softball team sweep a doubleheader from Middle Tennessee on Saturday.

The Owls (23-7-1, 4-1 C-USA) won the first game 9-0 in five innings. Emily Lochten broke open the scoring in the bottom of the first when her RBI double scored Lindsey Shell. Melissa Martinez followed with a double of her own that scored her twin sister Christina and Lochten to put FAU up 3-0. In the second inning, a Tatum Buckley single, a Delaney Rickey double and a Shell walk loaded the bases. After a Christina Martinez lineout, Carnesha Thompson singled in Rickey and Buckley. Lochten walked to load the bases for a second time before Melissa Martinez's grand slam to left cleared the bases. In the circle, Kylee Hanson threw a complete game one-hitter with nine strikeouts for her ninth win of the year.

FAU won the second game 3-1. The Blue Raiders (11-12, 1-7) scored in the top of the first when an Owl fielding error allowed Alma Cortez to score. The Owls tied the game in the bottom of the second when Lochten beat out an infield single, stole second and third, then scored on a Melissa Martinez groundout.

Lochten tallied the go ahead run in the fourth, when she scored on a Mickey Bell sacrifice bunt to put FAU up 2-1. Thompson roped a double to left in the fifth inning that plated Christina Martinez, giving the Owls an insurance run.

Samantha Messer pitched six innings with five strikeouts and didn't allow an earned run to pick up the win. Tatum Buckley pitched a perfect seventh inning for her first career save. As a staff, the Owls' pitchers only allowed three Blue Raider runners to advance to third base all night.

FAU will go for the series sweep on in Sunday's final game. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. eastern. Live video and live stats will be available at fausports.com.
