Softball Releases 2016 Schedule

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Coming off its first NCAA Regional appearance since 2006, the Florida Atlantic University softball team has released its 2016 schedule. The Owls' schedule includes seven teams who made it to the NCAA tournament last year.
FAU will start the year with the FAU Kick-Off Classic, hosting Penn State University, SIU-Edwardsville, Wright State, Tulsa, and one of the teams the Owls eliminated in last year's Regional, Hofstra. The tournament runs from Friday, Feb. 12 through Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016.
The Owls will host their 10th annual Strike Out Cancer tournament on Friday, Feb. 19 and Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, with Northern Illinois, UConn and Florida A&M rounding out the field. Arguably the toughest tournament of the season will take place in Las Vegas from March 4-6 when FAU plays in the Alexis Park Resort Classic. The Owls will play Southern Utah, UNLV, New Mexico State, Oregon and Drake over the weekend.
FAU will conclude its tournament schedule with the Parents' Weekend Tournament. The Owls host Robert Morris, Rutgers, LIU Brooklyn and Minnesota in the event, which runs from Thursday, March 10 through Sunday, March 13, 2016.
The Owls open Conference USA play at Middle Tennessee on Saturday, March 19, 2016 and Sunday, March 20, 2016. The Owls will host Southern Miss for their first C-USA home games, on Friday, March 25 and Sunday, March 26, 2016.
In-state rival Florida Gulf Coast will come to Boca Raton for a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 20, 2016. The final regular season series for the Owls will be at UTSA on Saturday, May 7 and Sunday, May 8, before traveling to North Texas for the 2016 Conference USA Softball Tournament, which runs from Wednesday, May 11 through Saturday, May 14, 2016.
