BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University Head Softball Coach Joan Joyce has announced the signing of four student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. All four are expected to enroll in the Fall of 2016.
"We will be losing a lot when this senior class graduates and we think the group we're bringing in should help shore up some of those losses," said FAU Head Softball Coach Joan Joyce.
Kaitlyn Burke is a catcher who has been on the varsity squad at P.K. Yonge since the sixth grade. She is a three-time all-state selection, including being named 4A Player of the Year as a junior when she helped the Blue Wave advance to the state championship game.
"Kaitlyn's arm might be just as strong as Alex Miller's arm, which is high praise," said Joyce. "She will bring a lot to the table."
Fayth Davis is a two-time 6A Player of the Year at Bartram Trail High School who plays both outfield and first base. She has been named the one of the top-15 players in northeast Florida. Davis and Burke were also travel ball teammates on the Santa Fe Inferno.
"Fayth will probably see time in the outfield," said Joyce. "She is a left handed hitter with quite a lot of power."
Madison Farrell plays catcher at Tampa-Durant High School, where she was named second team all-conference as a junior.
"Madison is going to be part of our catching rotation, along with Alex (Miller) and Kaitlyn (Burke)," said Joyce.
Last but not least, is Samantha Williams who is a three-time Miami Herald all-county choice at North Broward Prep.
"Samantha is a slapper who will help us in our middle infield," said Joyce. "She will also give us more speed on the bases."
The Owls will release their 2016 schedule later this fall.
