BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University Head Beach Volleyball Coach Capri Grotowski has announced the signing of Lauren Galinis, Samantha Gott, Candace Lacour, Megan McGrath and Megan Rice. Four of the five are local products and all will compete for the Owls starting with the 2017 season.
"We are thrilled to have signed such a talented class for the 2017 season," said Grotowski. All of the girls love the game and have the passion to improve. I look forward to the opportunity to work with them."
Lauren Galinis hails from Delray Beach and attends Atlantic High School, where she helped the Eagles to two district titles and a regional final appearance. She is the younger sister of current FAU beach volleyball player Andrea Galinis.
Samantha Gott is a two-time all-county selection from Seminole Ridge High School in Loxahatchee. Candace Lacour will come to FAU from Verrado High School in Arizona. Lacour was a three-year varsity starter for the indoor volleyball team. She also reached the Gold Bracket during many beach volleyball tournaments and holds the school record in the long jump.
Megan Mcgrath graduated from nearby West Boca High School, where she was an all-county selection and four year member of the softball team. Rounding out the class is Megan Rice, who will participate as a graduate student. She participated in several beach volleyball tournaments while earning an undergraduate degree in engineering.
The Owls will release their 2016 schedule later this fall.
