FAU Men's Soccer Plays Stetson to 1-1 Tie
9/7/2014 12:00:00 AM | Men's Soccer
The Owls (0-3-1) were outshot 21-7 in their home opener, but took the lead when Ryan Price headed in a rebound in the 43rd minute. FAU was able to fend off the Hatter attack for most of the match, but Stetson broke through with a header of its own in the 71st minute to tie the score.
Ramon Whittaker received two yellow cards in quick succession midway through the second half, forcing the Owls to play a man down for the remainder of the contest. Stetson had several opportunities to take the lead, but were turned away, thanks in part to Theo Jamilloux's 10 saves.
Extra time couldn't crack the deadlock as the two teams combined for just three shots in 20 minutes. The Owls will travel to Georgia Southern on Sept. 12, followed by a match at Mercer on Sept. 14.
