Women's Golf Opens Season at Lady Falcon Invitational

Round 1 Results

The Florida Atlantic University women's golf team opened its season on Saturday in the Lady Falcon Invitational hosted by Daytona State College. The tournament is being played at the LPGA International Club in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Owls finished the first round in in fifth place with a team total of 326.

The course is a par 72 with a total yardage of 6,117. The invitational features seven teams including Daytona State College, Florida Tech, Seminole State, Florida Southern, University of Tampa, and the University of South Carolina Beaufort.

Sophomore Heather Netti was FAU's top finisher in the first round shooting seven-over 79 to tie for 13th place. Christina Langer followed finishing eight-over 80 to tie for 17th.

Jacqueline Shelly shot 11-over 83 to finish the first day in 25th place with senior Nicole Marino close behind finishing 12-over 84 for 26th. Emily Peters rounded out the team shooting 19-over 91 for 41st place. Sophomore Yumi Fujii competed individually shooting 13-over 93 for 43rd place.

The second day of the Lady Falcon Invitational will kick off at 8 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21. The Owls are set to tee off beginning at 8:45 a.m. with Fujii beginning individual play at 8 a.m.
