Greenville, N.C. - Following an important victory over Marshall on Friday, the Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team fell 1-0 at East Carolina in Conference USA action on Sunday afternoon.
ECU (6-8-2, 3-4-0 C-USA) scored in the sixth minute as Skylar Poole camped out at the left post and netted a pass from Kelly Miller off of a corner kick from Danielle Romano.
The Owls (3-9-4, 1-3-3 C-USA) managed just three shots in the contest, two of which were on goal by Marisa Russo and Claire Emslie. Senior goalkeeper Courtney Zwetsch allowed the lone goal, but made five saves to keep FAU in striking distance.
FAU has earned six points in conference play and currently sits in seventh place in the East Division. The Owls are four points out of a tie for fifth place, the qualifying standing for the Conference USA tournament, with three matches remaining on their schedule.
FAU's next match is slated for Friday, Oct. 25 when it hosts FIU at 7 p.m. at the FAU Soccer Stadium. The Owls will then travel back to North Carolina to face Charlotte on Sunday, Oct. 27.
