BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's softball team dropped two games late Saturday in the FAU Kickoff Classic.
In the first game, the Owls faced top-25 ranked University of Michigan. FAU's Taylor Fawbush held Michigan through the first two innings. Errors in the second inning allowed two unearned, the only runs of the game for the Wolverines. The Owls out hit Michigan but could not drive across the runs at key moments. Stephanie Call, Heather Barnes, Jordan Stovall, Alexa Ballard and Alison Milam each recorded a hit.
The final game of the six-game day saw the Owls score first in the top half of the second. Maryland responded in the bottom half with one of their own. Five Owl errors proved the undoing for the FAU allowing Maryland to plate three more runs while the Owls were held to just one hit.
Fawbush took the first game loss for the Owls while Call was dished the second.
FAU, 1-8, will wrap up the final day of the tournament today. The Owls will host the Strikeout for Cancer next weekend which features Auburn, Florida A&M, FIU, Loyola Marymount, Michigan State and Tulsa.
