Softball Falls in Final Game of Kickoff Classic

BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's softball team dropped the final game of the FAU Kickoff Classic with a 7-2 verdict to Long Island University, Sunday afternoon.
LIU, playing under time constraints, jumped on the board early by plating a run in the top of the first. The Owls took control of the game in the bottom frame with two runs capitalizing on two errors by the Blackbirds. While errors favored FAU in the first it would be three two-out errors in the third that allowed six unearned runs to score for LIU and the game's final.
The six team tournament saw the Owls fall to 1-9 on the year. FAU will have an opportunity to redeem themselves next weekend when the Owls play host to Strike Out for Cancer Tournament, in Boca Raton, featuring Auburn, Florida A&M, FIU, Loyola Marymount, Michigan State and Tulsa.
