Softball Opens Home Schedule with Challenging Tournament

BOCA RATON, FL -
The Florida Atlantic University softball team will open its 2012 home schedule by hosting the FAU Kick-Off Classic. The Owls (0-5) are looking to rebound from a difficult opening weekend at the NTC Elite Inviational.
FAU will open the weekend by facing Kentucky (1-3) on Friday, February 17 at 6 p.m. The Wildcats are ranked 22nd in the latest USA Today/NFCA poll and advanced to the 2012 NCAA Super Regionals. Wright State University (2-2) will be the Owls' second opponent on Friday at 8 p.m.
No. 11 University of Michigan (4-0) will provide the opposition in the first game on Saturday, February 18. The Wolverines won last weekend LSU Tiger Classic, outscoring their opponents 26-12 in the process. This will be the fifth time in six years that FAU has played the Wolverines. The Owls will finish Saturday by playing the University of Maryland at 8 p.m. The Terrapins were 40-19 last season and hosted an NCAA Regional.
LIU-Brooklyn will be the final opponent of the weekend for FAU. The Blackbirds (18-35) will be opening their 2012 campaign this weekend.
