Gainesville, FL - Six Florida Atlantic University men's tennis players played their first matches for the school on Friday while competing in the University of Florida's Gator Invitational, the first event on the Owls' fall schedule. The invitational will conclude on Sunday, September 18.
FAU was matched Florida in flight competition and three players dropped matches against nationally ranked opponents: Junior Taylor Albrecht lost to No. 36-ranked Nassim Slilam, freshman Will Neuner fell to No. 58-ranked Bob van Overbeek and freshman Robert Dubuque lost to No. 119-ranked Billy Federhofer.
"We demonstrated solid effort, attitude and spirit against a quality opponent," said Brandon Stokes, FAU's head men's tennis coach. "We are excited to show improvement in tomorrow's matches."
FAU will battle in-state rival USF in flight action on Saturday, September 17.
