Boca Raton, FL - Playing several of the nation's premiere programs this fall will prepare the Florida Atlantic University men's tennis team for the 2012 spring season and the Sun Belt Conference championships.
The fall schedule, announced by Coach Brandon Stokes, features six events that begin with this weekend's Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. The Owls will also play in two Intercollegiate Tennis Association tournaments and two United States Tennis Association Futures events.
"Our fall schedule will be very challenging," said Stokes. "We intend to have an elite schedule year round so the guys have the opportunity to compete at the best levels. This is a wonderful time in our season as we go on the road and prepare for the season ahead."
Besides this weekend's Gator Invitational, FAU will participate in The State of Florida Tennis Championships in Tampa on September 23-25. The USTA Futures Events are scheduled in Niceville from October 28 to November 5 and Pensacola from November 5-12.
The Owls will leave Florida to compete in the ITA Men's All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., on October 1-9, and the Southeast Regional Championships in Athens, Ga., on October 20-24.
