Baseball's Mike Albaladejo Named Summer Collegiate All-Star

Boca Raton, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University baseball player Mike Albaladejo has continued to shine on the diamond in the summer heat, being selected to the Florida Collegiate League All-Star team. Meanwhile, other Owls are having strong summers with teams in front of major league scouts at top collegiate leagues throughout the country.
Albaladejo, preparing for his senior season, is hitting .324 with 11 runs batted in 22 games for the Leesburg Lightning. He has tallied four doubles and scored 10 runs.
In his junior FAU campaign, the catcher tallied a .279 batting average, had 50 hits, legged out six doubles and was one of seven players to drive in and score 20 or more runs. He started the last 32 games of the season as the Owls posted a 17-win Sun Belt Conference campaign.
Albaladejo was the team captain during the 2010 season in which the Owls won the regular-season conference title and advanced to the championship game of the NCAA Gainesville regional.
Other Owls playing in summer collegiate league teams include junior Alex Hudak, who has a .277 batting average with 18 runs, two home runs and 13 RBIs for the Bethesda Big Train of the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League.
Junior pitcher Ryan Garton has made five starts for the Big Train. He has not received a decision in his appearances, but has a 1.90 earned run average in 19 innings. He has struck out 20 batters while recording only five walks.
Sophomore pitcher R.J. Alvarez has been impressive for the second straight season with the Bourne Braves of the premiere Cape Code Baseball League. The right hander has compiled a 0.79 ERA and struck out 29 batters in 22.2 innings in 15 appearances as a reliever.
