BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's football team took to the practice field Friday afternoon to get in its final preparation before the first scrimmage of the spring, 2 p.m. Saturday.
The day began with 45 minutes of indo, install and the inside drills before the squad moved into the final 60 minutes of work that featured seven-on-seven and team. The Owls went through the paces with half pads and shorts.
"The defense is really flying around which is good," said Howard Schnellenberger, FAU's head coach. "We will have a more in depth assessment following tomorrow's scrimmage."
The Owls will open the 2011 campaign at the University of Florida, September 3, 2011. The Owls will run into their new on-campus stadium October 15, 2011. The site features a webcam that showcases the stadium's construction progress and also has an interactive seat location feature.
FAU will play its first full scrimmage on Saturday with the time set for 2 p.m. All practices and scrimmages are free and open to the public.
