Distance Runners Have Eventful Weekend

BOCA RATON, FL- The distance runners for the Florida Atlantic track team participated in two events over the weekend. On Friday a group of Owls traveled to Gainesville, FL where the University of Florida hosted the Florida Relays, and on Sunday distance runners also participated in the Gumbo Limbo Green Turtle Gallop 10k run road race. FAU had strong performances in both events.
At the Florida Relays the Owls had five runners create new personal record times. Rebecca Hallam was a highlight on Friday for FAU by breaking a school record in the outdoor 5,000 meter run. Hallam ran a 16:58.16 to place 10th at the Florida Relays and to get her name into the FAU record book. Also for the women Lindsay Lucas smashed an old personal record by 44 seconds and ran the 5,000 meter run in 17:52.21, while Lisa Leutner finished right behind Lucas with a career best time of 17:54.27.
The FAU women also had standout performances with first and third place finishes at the Green Turtle Gallop 10k road race in Boca Raton on Sunday. Out of an estimated 600 runners Friederike Feil finished third overall and first in the women's division with a fast time of 34:58. Emily Seymore also ran the road race for the Owls and finished in third in the women's group.
For the men Ryan Toledo had a career best time in the 5,000 meter run at the Florida Relays with a time of 15:35.83. Kevin Quabrozzi broke 15 minutes in the 5K in Gainesville and also won the Green Turtle Gallop 10k on Sunday.
