BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's football team took to the practice field with one scrimmage game under their belts and the opportunity to make corrections following film review.
FAU began the day with indo work and then moved into reviewing the scrimmage runs. The Owls ran nearly 30 minutes of 7-on-7 focusing on long yardage and the nickel. Practice ended with teamwork.
There were many combinations in the passing game giving both receivers and tight ends multiple reps through out the drills. Paul Moore, Byron Hankerson, Alex Deleon, Marcus Cunningham all made catches. In the team work a pass from Graham Wilbert to Moore was the highlight of the drills. Wilbert was given plenty of time to find Moore on a long ball down the field where Moore was tightly covered and grabbed the ball out of the air over his defender.
Although the passing game was given a lot of repetitions the running backs shined as the offensive line opened up plenty of holes for them to run through. Alfred Morris, Damian Fortner and Travis Jones all did well with the ball on the ground. On defense Demetrius Williamson and Brentley Harstad both had interceptions and Treon Howard also stood out batting down a couple passes.
The Owls will open the 2011 campaign at the University of Florida, September 3, 2011. The Owls will run into their new on-campus stadium October 15, 2011.
